Lymphedema
Lymphedema, the accumulation of protein-rich fluid, is due to the disruption in the lymphatic system. This type of swelling is seen after trauma to one’s body, surgery, radiation treatment and when lymph nodes are surgically removed, Patients often develop lymphedema after breast surgery.
Goals of therapy:
Patients who present with edema from a variety of diagnosis such as oncology, orthopedic, lymphatic or vascular can benefit from peripheral edema management. Our goal with managing any of there types of edema is rapid reduction of edema in the involved area to hasten return to normal function.
Lymphedema management includes:
- Manual Lymph drainage
- Compression therapy
- Therapeutic Exercise
